Hi! I'm Alexandra Barrett, a Game Developer and Community Manager

About Me

I have experience building software applications, video games, and online communities. I can create single player and multiplayer experiences, available on various platforms such as desktop and virtual reality. Also, I am a successful community manager, who has set up and created communities on Instagram, Discord, and Reddit. Throughout the past 8 years, I've created and managed an online group with more than 60,000 members.

I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Arizona State University with a degree in Media Arts and Sciences, including a Computer Gaming certificate. I worked at Meteor Studio, an extended reality research lab, for three years. There, I was involved in numerous projects working with several teams. Check out my projects below to see my work! Role: XR Developer

  • Programmer and designer who implemented new features that worked across virtual reality and desktop

  • Developed multiplayer and single-player functionality using C# and Netcode for GameObjects

  • Demonstrated project at American Geophysical Union (AGU) conference in 2023 and 2024

Role: Lead Multiplayer Developer

Supported Platforms: Windows

  • Responsible for all multiplayer networking programming and development. Achieved LAN and online multiplayer functionality

  • Used Steam's API to use online functionality

  • Presented project at the Senior Capstone showcase, with 12 computers in a multiplayer session simulataneously

Dreamscape Immersive Classroom

Multiplayer experience developed for a classroom to interact in VR

Role: XR Developer

Supported Platforms: VR

  • Converted the project over from SDK6 to SDK8

  • Ensured that all interactions worked properly 

  • Quality of life changes: updated UI, rearranged seating arrangement so all students can view the scene properly

Single-player Platformer developed on GameMaker Studio 2

Role: Programmer

Supported Platforms: Windows

  • First video game ever developed

  • Worked with another programmer to have a completed game by the end of the semester. Consisted of a tutorial and three levels; each level had several waves and a boss battle

  • Responsible for programming all aspects: level structure, abilities, health, main menu, etc

Single-player horror game developed in Unity Game Engine

Role: Programmer

Supported Platforms: Windows

  • Semester project; worked with another programmer to create a game with three levels and an win objective

  • Implemented different interactions in every level and the shop system
